My name is Chenyang Xu, I am a senior Architect student minor in Art at University of Colorado Boulder. For me, practicing Art is like a journey, a journey that teaches me how to observe, a journey that teaches me how to understand, a journey that teaches me how to value; but most importantly, it is a journey that teaches me how to discover myself. I have been practicing art for several years, beginning as a sketcher that was trying to replicate the reality of an object onto paper with  pencils; I was a drawer. Continuing my art development as a college student, I started to discover a style that fits the images of myself. I started to observe my soul, my body, my appearance and my inner voice, and visualize them in my own style; Now, I am an artist.

Most of my art is composed in simple manners, and every single one of them has inherited different parts and meanings of me, my thoughts, my life. I always try to reflect a certain discipline of my practices through my art. For the most of the time, I like to work with pencils, camera, and digital tools. Along with the skills I have now as an artist, I am excited to keep discovering on this journey, to learn about myself and how to construct me in a way of Art.
